Social media consumption

eMarketer article on current and projected growth of consumption across different social media scapes.

Consumption of blog content comes out on top followed by social networking (where's the boardscape and review sites in the mix?). What's of additional interest (mentioned but not delved into in the above) is the creation / consumption ratios cross-scape. From our data, these change markedly depending on which scape you're looking at (ratio is closer on social networks and messageboards than on video sharing venues for eg).

Also of increasing importance will be the role of microblogging (am assuming author is including within blog category) in raising the participation ratio within the blogosphere. I think it really deserves its own category but that's another post.

Adding to the author's published list of catalysts for growth will be easier / cheaper access through mobile...
